These are among the variety of power cables readily found at Nassau national cable. This power cable is meant for applications rated at 5000 volts and 8000 volts in relatively corrosive environments. It’s designed for heavy weight applications compared to the previous cable. The MV105 cable can work properly in a wide range of temperatures, whereby its operating temperature is at 90 degrees Celsius. In case of emergency overload conditions it can withstand temperatures up to 130 degrees Celsius and 250 degrees Celsius if a short circuit occurs.
It has copper conductors as the electrolyte. The copper conductor is also stranded to enhance flexibility and can be able to carry large amounts of electric current. The copper conductor also has a semi-conducting shield that protects the conductor from damage. It has a robust material as the insulator which is made from of cross-linked polyethylene (XLP). For 5000 voltage rating the insulation coverage is at 100% but for 8000 volts the insulation coverage is 133% considering the higher voltage. The insulator also has a semi-conducting shield covering it. An overall shielding wire is added to prevent mechanical and electromagnetic forces from affecting the cable. An overall PVC jacket is installed to protect the inner components of the cable. With this type of cable design, it makes it durable and less prone to damages.
Appropriate for all situations of corrosive environments in power circuits up to 5,000V when installed in open air, conduit, and duct, cable tray when CT rated, in wet and dry locations. Main uses are for chemical plants, refineries, steel mills, industrial plants, commercial buildings, utility substations and generating stations. National Electric Code permitted for use at 90°C for continuous operation, 130°C for emergency overload conditions, and 250°C for short circuit conditions.
Has a semi-conducting conductor shield, with soft bare annealed copper per ASTM B-3, Class B stranding per ASTM B-8 (compressed) or ASTM B-496 (compact).
A semi-conducting insulation shield, of cross-linked polyethylene (XLP) per ICEA S-97-682.
Shielding wires meet ICEA standards.
Sunlight-resistant PVC per ICEA S-97-682 and UL Standard 1072.
